Line Editing
Line editing is the process of reading a manuscript line by line and paragraph by paragraph. It ensures that the language flows, has continuity, and actually says what the author means.
My name is Britta Franceschi, and I am a literary editor. My specialty is line editing, but I am also a copyeditor, writer, and book reviewer.
My Services
Line editing is the process of reading a manuscript line by line and paragraph by paragraph. It ensures that the language flows, has continuity, and actually says what the author means.
Copy editing is the process of reading a manuscript for grammatical errors, errant punctuation, incorrect facts, congruent style, and clear readability.
I will read your manuscript and give you detailed feedback and comments on its strengths and weaknesses. Specific aspects addressed include plot, characterization, pacing, structure, and mechanics.
When you send me your manuscript, I will provide a sample* edit. If you like my style, we'll sign a contract describing the work, timeline, and pricing. In order to begin the edit, I require a deposit; to release the final edited document, I require payment in full.
I can work out a payment plan with you, if you need.
Editors and writers are teammates in the writing process. My edits are always suggestions, and I work with you to produce the best version of your work. Together, we make your writing exactly what you imagined it would be.
Editing is generally thought of as fixing grammar and the technicalities of language, but there is so much more to it! Each step of the process focuses on a different aspect of the manuscript.
